Exterior Wall Insulation Rock Wool

Huamei exterior wall insulation rock wool tape is a Class A non combustible material recommended for use in JGJ 289-2012"lechnical Specitication for Fire Insulation and Isolation Belts tor Bulding Extenior Walls". From the perspective of energy conservation, fire prevention, and safety, the rock wool strip for extemal wall insulation is the best fire insulation material for building fire isolation belts. It can be used in conjunction with other insulation materials with combustion performance below Class A (such as EPS,XPSboard, etc.), which can improve the overall fire resistance performance of buildings. It is applied in non A-grade insulation materials for exterior wall insulation systems, set horizontally to effectively prevent fire spread and improve the fire resistance performance of building exterior walls.

Product Description

Product Applications

Classic application of rock wool tape for external wall insulation: Ensure that the partition layer with a width of at least 300mm is set up as a structural fireproof layer, and fully adhore to the base wall.

Application of rock wool strip thin plaster for external wall insulation: The overall wall is made of vertical wire rock wool strip in the form of thin plaster treatment, which is applied to external walls, underground garages, storage rooms, and ceilings to achieve higher tensile strength. Unified materials ensure the consistency of insulation performance and weather resistance, making fire prevention safer.

Critical Installation Considerations

Exterior Wall Insulation Rock Wool systems require precise installation to ensure thermal efficiency, fire safety, and facade durability. In ETICS, ventilated facades, and curtain wall systems, installation quality is critical.

Key considerations:

● Substrate must be clean, dry, and stable
● Use adhesive + mechanical anchors for secure fixing
● Install boards tightly to avoid thermal bridges
● Apply proper vapor and moisture control layers
● Ensure compatibility with facade finishes (render, stone, metal, ventilated systems)

Exterior Wall Insulation Rock Wool Key Advantages

Key advantages include:

High-performance thermal insulation efficiency
Reduces heat transfer through external walls and minimizes thermal bridging, significantly improving building energy efficiency in facade systems.

Excellent non-combustible fire protection
Rock wool insulation is classified as non-combustible (Class A), providing critical fire safety performance for exterior wall systems and helping slow flame spread in building facades.

Superior acoustic insulation performance
The fiber structure effectively absorbs sound energy, reducing external noise transmission in urban environments, traffic-facing buildings, and commercial spaces.

Moisture resistance and vapor permeability balance
Allows vapor diffusion while preventing moisture accumulation, maintaining long-term stability of exterior wall insulation systems.

Structural stability and long-term durability
Maintains dimensional integrity under temperature changes and environmental exposure, ensuring stable facade performance over time.

Note:

This product must be stored indoors and covered with waterproof cloth when placed outdoors. Please ensure that the outer packaging of the product is intact before use.

Exterior Wall Insulation Rock Wool Integrated Building Envelope System Solution

Role in Building Envelope Systems

Exterior wall insulation rock wool serves as a core functional layer within the building envelope system, providing continuous thermal insulation, fire resistance, and acoustic control across different structural interfaces.

In modern energy-efficient buildings, the envelope system is no longer a single protective layer but a multi-functional assembly combining structural support, insulation layers, waterproofing systems, and architectural facade finishes.

Typical Exterior Wall System Integration Structure

A typical rock wool-based exterior wall insulation system includes:

Structural wall substrate
Reinforced concrete, masonry, or steel frame structures provide load-bearing support for the facade system.

Fixing system
Ensures stable installation of insulation boards under wind pressure and long-term facade loading conditions.

Exterior wall insulation rock wool layer
Acts as the continuous thermal insulation core, reducing energy loss and eliminating thermal bridges.

Reinforcement layer
Includes reinforced base coats and mesh layers that enhance impact resistance and surface stability.

Exterior facade finishing system
Includes render finishes, stone cladding, metal panels, or ventilated curtain wall systems for architectural protection and aesthetics.

Functional Contributions of Exterior Wall Systems

Within integrated facade systems, exterior wall insulation rock wool provides multiple performance contributions:

Thermal efficiency improvement
Reduces heat loss and improves HVAC system efficiency in residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.

Fire safety enhancement layer
Acts as a non-combustible barrier within facade assemblies, improving building fire compartmentation performance.

Moisture and condensation control
Helps regulate vapor movement within wall assemblies, reducing moisture-related structural risks.

Acoustic comfort improvement
Reduces external noise penetration, especially in dense urban environments and traffic-adjacent buildings.

Integration into Different Exterior Wall Systems

Exterior wall insulation rock wool boards can be applied across multiple facade system types:

ETICS / EIFS exterior wall insulation system
Rock wool boards are bonded to the substrate and covered with reinforced render layers, forming a cost-effective and energy-efficient facade insulation solution.

Ventilated facade system
Installed behind air cavities and exterior cladding panels, providing continuous thermal insulation while allowing moisture drainage and ventilation.

Curtain wall backing insulation system
Used behind glass or metal curtain wall systems to improve thermal performance and fire safety without increasing structural load.

Prefabricated building wall systems
Integrated into factory-produced wall panels and modular building systems for fast installation and consistent insulation quality.
